Anti-Virus Setup

Disable Windows Security features for compatibility

Step 1: Disable Windows Security

  • Open "Windows Security"
  • Go to "Virus and threat protection" → "Manage Settings"
  • Turn off EVERYTHING in this section

Step 2: Disable Firewall

  • Open "Firewall & Network Protection"
  • Disable Domain Network
  • Disable Private Network
  • Disable Public Network

Step 3: Disable Apps & Browser Control

  • Open "Apps & Browser Control"
  • Disable everything in this section

Step 4: Install dControl

Use dControl to permanently disable Windows Defender:

Memory Integrity

Disable Memory Integrity for better compatibility

Option 1: Manual Method

  • Open "Windows Security" → "Device Security"
  • Click "Core isolation details"
  • Toggle off "Memory Integrity"
  • Restart your PC
â„šī¸ Why disable this? Memory Integrity (HVCI) can interfere with certain applications and drivers.

Option 2: Automated Script (Recommended)

Use this command to disable Memory Integrity via Registry:

Run as Administrator in Command Prompt:
reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" /v FeatureSettingsOverride /t REG_DWORD /d 3
reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management" /v FeatureSettingsOverrideMask /t REG_DWORD /d 3

TPM and Secure Boot

Manage Secure Boot settings

âš ī¸ IMPORTANT: Some games REQUIRE Secure Boot and TPM to be ENABLED (Valorant, League of Legends, Warzone). Check your game requirements first!

Step 1: Check Current Status

Check Secure Boot Status:

  • Press Windows + R → Type msinfo32
  • Look for "Secure Boot State"
  • If "Off" or "Unsupported", Secure Boot is disabled

Check TPM Status:

  • Press Windows + R → Type tpm.msc
  • Check if TPM is present (version 1.2 or 2.0)

Step 2: Disable Secure Boot (If Needed)

âš ī¸ Warning: Only disable if required. Many modern games need it ON!
  • Restart PC and enter BIOS/UEFI (press Delete, F2, or F10)
  • Navigate to Security or Boot section
  • Find "Secure Boot" → Set to Disabled
  • Save changes and exit (F10)

Hyper-V & Virtualization

Enable virtualization in BIOS

Check if Virtualization is Enabled

  • Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc)
  • Go to Performance → CPU
  • Look for "Virtualization: Enabled"
✅ Already Enabled? If virtualization is enabled, skip this step.

Enable Virtualization in BIOS

  • Restart and enter BIOS (Delete, F2, F10)
  • Find "Intel Virtualization Technology" or "AMD-V"
  • Enable it and save changes

Remove conflicting anti-cheat software

Common Anti-Cheat Programs

  • Riot Vanguard - Valorant, League of Legends
  • Easy Anti-Cheat - Fortnite, Apex Legends, Rust
  • BattlEye - Rainbow Six Siege, PUBG
  • FACEIT Anti-Cheat - CS2 competitive

Method 1: Uninstall from Windows

  • Press Windows + R → Type appwiz.cpl
  • Find the anti-cheat program
  • Click Uninstall and restart

Method 2: Command Prompt Removal

Run as Administrator:
sc stop [service_name]
sc delete [service_name]

Common Service Names:

  • vgc or vgk - Riot Vanguard
  • BEService - BattlEye
  • EasyAntiCheat - Easy Anti-Cheat
  • FACEIT - FACEIT Anti-Cheat

Disable Windows driver security blocklist

What is the Driver Blocklist?

Windows blocks drivers with known security vulnerabilities. Some legitimate software requires disabling this.

Disable via Registry

Run as Administrator:
reg add "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\CI\Config" /v VulnerableDriverBlocklistEnable /t REG_DWORD /d 0x000000 /f

Virtualization Based Security

Disable VBS for driver compatibility

Step 1: Check if VBS is Enabled

  • Press Windows + R → Type msinfo32
  • Look for "Virtualization-based Security"
  • If it says "Running", VBS is enabled

Step 2: Disable Core Isolation (Windows)

  • Settings → Privacy & Security → Windows Security
  • Click Device Security → Core isolation details
  • Turn Memory Integrity to OFF
  • Restart your PC

Step 3: Disable VBS in BIOS

  • Enter BIOS (Del, F2, F10, Esc during boot)
  • Navigate to Advanced/Security/CPU Configuration
  • Disable these settings:

  • â€ĸ Intel VT-d / SVM Mode
  • â€ĸ Hyper-V or Virtualization Support

Game Mode Settings

📌 Windows 10 - Turn OFF

  • Settings → Gaming → Game Mode → OFF

✅ Windows 11 - Turn ON

  • Settings → Gaming → Game Mode → ON
✅ Windows 11: Game Mode is improved. Keep it ON.

Set Game Priority to High

  • Launch your game
  • Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc → Details tab
  • Find game process → Right-click → Set priority → High

Fix game crashes caused by overlays

  • Press ALT + R to open Radeon software
  • Click Settings (top right)
  • Go to Graphics
  • Uncheck Radeon Anti-Lag

Disable Discord Overlay

  • Open Discord → Click Settings (bottom left)
  • Search for Game Overlay
  • Toggle it OFF

Disable GeForce Experience Overlay

  • Open GeForce Experience
  • Click the cogwheel icon (top right)
  • Toggle In-Game Overlay to OFF

Disable AMD Radeon Overlay

  • Press ALT + R to open Radeon software
  • Click Settings → Preferences → General
